Inglorious Idols Challenge:

"No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other." - Matthew 6:24 (ESV™)

Inglorious Idols Challenge
Throughout the Bible, God shows us the importance of meditating on His word daily. He desires to have a relationship with us and this requires us knowing Him. If a man truly loves his wife, how much would he investigate her to know her fully ... to love her fully? God's word also protects us in the great spiritual battle. In Ephesians 6:13-17, it is one of the key battle items that we are to equip ourselves with (and the only offensive weapon listed). When Satan tempted Jesus in the desert, Jesus used scripture to rebuke every one of his attacks. Matthew 5:18 tells us that God's word will outlast even the earth and the heavens.

So, why do we so often put more importance on earthly things rather than meditating on God's word? Whether it's food (John 6:27), excerise (1 Corinthians 9:24-27), leisure (2 Thessalonians 3:7), work (Mark 8:36) ... you name it, our excuses are the same ... "We don't have enough time." If meditating on scripture is so important, how do we centralize it in our lives? What if for one month we vowed to make it more important than a certain area of our life that has too much focus (Matthew 6:24)? Use this tool to keep track of your daily meditation on God's word and help God come before idol. Please share your ideas, tips, or struggles with us on Facebook.
